The Amazing Ride lets you explore the bike paths of Melbourne in a fun, safe and family friendly way. With three rides to suit all ages and abilities, the Amazing Ride will be a fun day out for the whole family. Stopping at iconic Melbourne sites like the Collingwood Children’s Farm and passing hidden gems and beautiful playgrounds, the Baby Chino Ride, Milkshake Ride or Latte Lap each have something to make the whole family smile.
To be held Sunday 18 March, 2018, the Amazing Ride will offer three ride options to be completed over a three hour period from 10am to 1pm starting and finishing from the Hawthorn Velodrome, Patterson Reserve.
During the three hour time period participants can choose to ride all ride options outlined below or just choose their favourite option.
The Hawthorn Velodrome infield will also host a variety of activities to enjoy before or after you ride.
Entries will be accepted on the day however only participants who have pre-entered before March 12th will receive the free event T-shirts.
The event village will host a number of activities throughout the event:
- Bicycle Centre South Morang will be offering free bike safety checks and advice if you’re looking for a new bike
- Very Special Kids, Charity Partner for the event, will be bringing the Big Pink Pig and watch out for the Pink Pigs on the rides!
- Donald and Truck Coffee will on site and making sure the Latte and the Baby Chino is ready both before an after your adventure, they will also have a range of delicious food
- Victoria Police will be on hand to promote bike safety
- Cycling Skills for kids activities will run throughout the morning
- Face Painting
- Yarra Valley Water drinking station
Baby Chino Ride
The Baby Chino ride is perfect for little ones just learning to enjoy the ride. Starting and finishing at the Hawthorn velodrome this 800metre ride is suitable for balance bikes or beginners on training wheels and is perfect for a morning out with the little ones in the family. The turnaround point for the ride is situated next to a lovely playground in the park for some more fun in the sun. A great first riding adventure.
The Milkshake Ride
The Milkshake Ride is suitable for families with kids a little more comfortable on the bike. This 14km ride, again starting from the Hawthorn Velodrome, takes little adventurers to Melbourne’s iconic Collingwood Children’s Farm. Take some time to stop for a milkshake in the cafe and look around the animal farm before the journey home. A lovely morning out.
The Latte Lap
The Latte Lap is for participants who want to get outside, be active and enjoy some time on the bike. This intermediate 32 kilometre ride takes in the bike paths of Melbourne with the start and finish at the Hawthorn Velodrome, one of Melbourne’s oldest velodromes.

We’ll be showcasing the latest Zwift virtual cycling program across all three days of the Arnold Sports Festival, and giving people the chance to try it out too. Drop by and test yourself at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from March 16 to 18. Who knows, you could be the next Cadel Evans!
